The Foundation
Funding Approach

A responsible and holistic approach to our work.
Chamandy Foundation partners with organizations supporting children and youth in the following areas: Engaged Education, Healthy Bodies & Minds, Nurturing Communities and Safe Housing. Our strategic approach is holistic, in that we try to address both the roots and symptoms of inequalities. While we do not have a dedicated funding stream for environmental initiatives, environmental sustainability is a key lens applied across all our funding areas ensuring a responsible and holistic approach to our work.
Communities We Support
- Children and youth (antenatal to age 35)
- Newcomers (recent immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers)
- BIPOC – Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour
- Children & youth experiencing disabilities
- Unhoused mothers/families & youth
- 2SLGBTQI+ communities
- Low-income families
- Youth in Care
*Chamandy Foundation also seeks to support organizations working at the intersection of these identities.

Prioritization of Organizations
& Funding Opportunities
- A mix of single and multi-year funding
- Open to mission funding and funding salaries
- Mix of frontline services and advocacy
- Grassroots and community-led organizations or initiatives, started and led by local individuals
- Organizations “by and for” equity seeking communities
We fund organizations and programs that serve communities across Canada. While we do partner with international organizations on occasion, these grants are based on climate or health emergencies, as well as priorities expressed by our Board of Directors. Organizations must have an office in Canada and be registered with the Canada Revenue Agency.
Areas That We DO NOT Fund
- Religious or missionary based organizations, those affiliated with religious institutions, or those offering religious programming
- Partisan political activities (of which the purpose is to directly impact government leadership or specific legislative outcomes)
- Medical Equipment for large institutions (i.e. hospitals, dental offices)
- One-time events (such as conferences or galas)
- Non-Canadian organizations
- Day or overnight camps
- Capital campaigns
- Individuals
*We are not currently funding organizations based and working exclusively within Ontario and British Columbia, with the exception of organizations by and for Indigenous populations whose traditional lands fall within the colonial borders of these two provinces.
